What's on in October 2025
Hi everyone,
I hope you are well.
Welcome to October's content schedule! Here's a sneak peek of what you can look forward to this month:
- Main tutorial - Full Eagle Portrait for Beginners: Acrylic Paint - Available October 1 (today)
In this 2-hour 30-minute tutorial, Iāll guide you through my complete seven-layer acrylic painting process to create a detailed and realistic Wedge-tailed Eagle portrait.
Building on techniques from my beginner series, weāll focus on layering colour, refining shapes, and creating rich texture using a structured, step-by-step approach. Iāll show you how to prepare your canvas with a toned surface and grid, block in values and colour, build depth with opacity, and gradually develop lifelike detail using glazes and dry brushing.
This tutorial is perfect for beginner to intermediate artists wanting to strengthen their acrylic technique and confidently create a naturalistic bird of prey from start to finish.

2. Fundamental Tutorial - Eagle Feather Beginner Course - Acrylic - October Friday, 10
To align with the main tutorial of the month, I focus on the beginner process of painting broad, flat feathers. This is where I break down the brushwork, blending, and layering techniques to demonstrate my approach to creating realistic feathers with acrylic paint.

3. Live Demo: Grass - Thursday, October 16 10 am (ACDT)
This month's live class will focus on one of our first lessons on the elements: Grass. After covering beginner-level light manipulation and colour theory, I will start expanding on our subject matter. This will lay the foundation for image manipulation, allowing us to start piecing together compositions for more interesting and meaningful paintings.
Once we know how to paint things like clouds, grasses, ground cover and more, we will then be able to use our experience with light and colour to stitch the pieces together as we advance in the classes.
This demo will be done in a split format between acrylic and oil paint. Grass similar to that which I added to the lion painting below last year will be the focus of the demonstration.
