What's on in June 2026
Hi everyone,
I hope you are well.
Welcome to June's content schedule! Here's a sneak peek of what you can look forward to this month:
- Main tutorial - White Snow Owl - Acrylic paint - Available Now (today)
In this 2 hour beginner-level acrylic painting tutorial, I will show you how to paint a realistic snow owl portrait using my simple seven-layer process. I’ll show you how to create soft, luminous white feathers, balance warm and cool tones, and build depth and realism throughout the portrait. I’ll also guide you through creating subtle feather texture, a soft atmospheric background, and bringing focus and expression into the eye and face. This tutorial is ideal for artists who want a clear, structured approach to painting realistic wildlife in acrylics from start to finish.
2. Live Demonstration - How to Package Art - Thursday , June 11 10 am (ACDT)
This month I will be doing the Live Demonstration early due to the workshop in Yellowstone.
For this live demo I will share the acrylic version of the water techniques I covered last month with oil paint while painting the portrait of the great white shark. Allocating a full demo to explain the acrylic process for painting light in water will be great as I will be able to do the full effects from start to finish due to acrylics fast drying time. I will be using a hair drier to speed this process up even further.
We will cover the build of dark to light tones for the main body of water. How to add the rays of sunlight evenly and blend them into the water, and how to create the dappled light effect on objects in the water itself.
If you are not able to make it to the session, you are welcome to send your questions to me by email ahead of time: carla@carlagraceart.com
3. Exclusive Content Tutorial: Groud Cover - Acrylic Friday, June 19

This month’s tutorial is all about painting ground cover and those supporting landscape elements that often appear in our wildlife paintings.
Leaves, rocks, sticks and forest debris can feel complicated and time consuming to paint, so in this lesson I’ll show you the process I use to break them down into manageable layers. We’ll focus on building up colour, value and texture step by step, while creating realistic detail without getting bogged down in every little shape from the start.
I’ll also share how I approach warm and cool colour relationships, create depth and variety within natural textures, and use selective detail to keep the focus where it belongs.
I hope this tutorial gives you a practical approach to painting ground cover and helps you feel more confident tackling the natural environments around your wildlife subjects.
I look forward to seeing your creations this month. Thank you so much for being here.

If you have any questions or requests, please feel free to email me.
Kind regards
Carla Grace
