What's on in July 2025
Hi everyone,
I hope you are well.
Welcome to July's content schedule! Here's a sneak peek of what you can look forward to this month:
1. Major tutorial - Tiger Portrait Beginner Course - Acrylic Paint - Available July 1 (today)
In this 2-hour and 40-minute tutorial, I’ll guide you through my complete seven-layer acrylic painting process to create a vibrant and lifelike tiger portrait—bringing together all the techniques from my beginner series. I’ll cover how to bring out the tiger’s striking features, its dynamic fur texture, the play of light and shadow, and how to create a balanced composition with bold contrasts and rich tones. This tutorial is perfect for beginner artists looking to refine their skills and achieve a realistic, detailed animal portrait.
2. Micro Tutorial: Owl feathers for Beginners in Acrylic - 7 Layer Exercise- Available Thursday, July 17
This month's micro tutorial demonstrates a beginner-level approach to my process with acrylic paint to create the texture of owl feathers. I will show you my 7-layer technique, breaking down the complex layers of the feathers into a simplified and straightforward process.

3. Live Demonstration: Core Class - Thursday July 24 at 10am (ACST)
This month's live demonstration:
Creating a Backlight Glow
Creating a soft, ambient backlight is effective in bringing life into an ordinarily flat painting, especially if there is no direct source of light. This is a very easy element to include once you understand light and how to manipulate it. There are other forms of reflected light that an artist can include subtly to bring additional wonder into their paintings, whether it is wildlife or portraiture. I love including these subtle uses of light throughout my work, so I look forward to sharing the straightforward techniques and principles with you in this month's live demonstration. Backlighting is what i included in the below portrait of a Main Coon to bring light into the face.

I look forward to seeing your creations this month. Thank you so much for being here.
