Welcome to the February's content schedule! Here's a sneak peek of what you can look forward to this month:
- Hyper detail tutorial - Black Jaguar: Oil Paint - Available Now
In this three-hour tutorial, I will guide you through the process of painting a realistic portrait of a black jaguar, focusing on step-by-step techniques for beginners to intermediate painters. I will cover material selection, toning the panel, creating grids for outlines, and blocking in colours, with a focus on blending warm and cool tones to capture the jaguar's unique fur texture and features. Finally, I will refine the details, including the eyes, muzzle, and whiskers, to complete the portrait with realistic depth and subtle highlights.
2. Micro Tutorial: Colour Theory: Essential Colours and Practical Exercises - February 13th
This month's micro-tutorial explores exactly what we need in our top draw of paint colours so that we can paint anything that nature throws at us. The aim of this tutorial is to cut through the overwhelming colours available to us and focus on the essentials based on what other artists use. I have analysed the palettes of 18 different artists from different genres and have compiled a list of the most frequently used colours. From there, I demonstrate how to mix the colours you already have so that you get to know their mixing potential and understand how they interract with one another. This is probably the most essential part of this course and will transform your understanding of colour mixing going forward - if you do the exercise!
3. Live Demonstration: Painting Challenge - Thursday, February 20th at 10am (ACDT)
This month's live demonstration will focus on another challenge - this one will be by request though! What would you like to see me paint or explain through demonstration?

I look forward to seeing your creations this month and am opening submissions for "Save My Painting". If you would like me to help you out with a painting your are stuck on (must be mostly completed), I am happy to create a little tutorial video for you that shows you how I could possibly help your painting over the finishing line. I am only taking on two of these episodes for now. If your request is something I can help out with in a simple email then I will do that instead.
